Which Private Jet Airport is Closest to my Ski Resort?
15 January 2019
Flying by private jet often means you can get very close to your resort.
As private jets are smaller than commercial aircraft, they can use the shorter runways of smaller private airports, which are closer to the slopes than large commercial airports.
For example, Chambéry Airport is an hour closer to Courcheval than Geneva Airport. This means you can be skiing very soon after landing in the mountains. We can even arrange a quick transfer by helicopter or car as appropriate.
Because your departure airport would also be the closest one to your home, and you can take off within 20 minutes of arriving at the airport, a private jet gives you a much quicker end-to-end journey than any scheduled flight.
With a private jet you spend a lot less time travelling and more time zooming down those beautiful snow covered pistes.
Adding up the journey time to a main airport terminal versus a local private jet airport, check-in time for a scheduled flight versus a private flight, disembarkation and transfer times for the outbound and return journey you can easily save around 8 hours on your travel time, when you fly privately. That's another day out on the slopes!
Popular resorts in the Alps are well served by Private Airports:
Sion in Switzerland is ideal for Verbier, Les 4 Vallees, Gstaad, Chamonix and Zermatt,
Chambéry Airport is perfect for those enjoying the destinations of Courcheval, Meribel and Val d'Isère
St. Gallen-Altenrhein is best for Klosters and Lech
Samedan is best for St Moritz
Transfers can be as short as 30 minutes in some cases. So, while others on scheduled flights would still be collecting bags from the carousel in Geneva, you will already be zipping your way down the through the tree-lined slopes, enjoying the snow.
In the USA and Canada we frequently perform flights to Aspen, and Banff which both have airports very close by for speedy transfers.
Aspen is the definition of luxury ski resorts; the place to see and be seen by famous names and faces from around the globe. The closest airport is in Aspen, only 5 km away.
In Canada skiers can enjoy skiing in the famous Banff National Park. Even though Banff is synonymous with steep slopes, around 20% of the terrain is ideal for beginners, making it a good choice for couples and groups with mixed ability. In addition, a short stroll will bring you to the charming local town and a selection of wonderful independent shops which provide a friendly village ambience.
The closest airport is in Banff, approximately 4 km away.
