Day 1

Arrive in Oslo. Transfer to Grand Hotel, a stunning five-star property in the heart of Oslo. On the way, stop at the Ice Bar, which is a two minute walk from the hotel, for a welcome drink to help set the tone of the arctic adventure you will experience. In the afternoon you will be taken to the Holmenkollen Ski Jump for an exhilarating experience – abseiling from the ski tower! Hanging up there, you will have a fantastic view of Oslo and its surroundings before descending the 57 meters by rope. After this adrenaline packed experience, you will walk over to the Royal Lodge for an aperitif on the terrace with the stunning views before you enjoy a private dinner in the Lodge.

Day 2

In the morning you will be taken to the airport for the flight up North past the Arctic Circle to Longyearbyen, the northernmost town in the world. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Hotel Basecamp located in the heart of Longyearbyen. This hotel is designed to look and feel like a traditional trapper lodge decorated with driftwood, sealskin and slate. Unlike a traditional lodge, the hotel offers comfort, modern amenities such as WiFi and all rooms are ensuite. Once settled in, you will be whisked away to your first authentic adventure, dog sledding. You will be picked up by a guide who will go through the route and all the equipment and take you to the Trappers’ Station. There will be roughly 90 Alaskan huskies eager to meet you. The guide will introduce the principle of dogsledding and help you to harness your own team. You drive into Bolterdalen Valley, surrounded by mountains and giving you a good chance to see reindeer. Back at the Trapper’s Station, you will help to take care of your dogs before being invited to a Trapper’s Dinner. The guides will recount stories as you relax on the furs eating delicious arctic delicacies and allow the everyday stresses to escape.

Day 3

After a hearty breakfast, you will be met by guides who will go through the programme for the next two days. You will be handed some warm clothing before stepping out to climb onto your mode of transportation – the snowmobile. You will head out into the winter landscape and travel in direction of Cape Linnè making interesting stops along the way. Lunch will be served in the wild outdoors and if the weather is favourable, you will ride through Barentsburg, the Russian settlement. Your base for the night will be Isfjord Radio. This 1933 outpost for radio operators doesn’t look like much from the outside but step inside and you will discover a different world. The modern luxury inside is an amazing contrast with the rough coastal landscape. Your hosts will show you around and welcome you with a well-deserved aperitif and dinner.

Day 4

After a substantial morning meal, it’s time to head into the beautiful landscape of Svalbard. The guide chooses the day’s route depending on the weather and snow conditions, and with some luck, you will see stunning wildlife and catch a glimpse of the sun casting beautiful colours on the snowy landscape. You will arrive back in Longyearbyen in the afternoon where you can relax or visit the world’s northernmost brewery to sample five different local beers. Dinner will be at Restaurant Kroa, a popular and historical restaurant located next door to Basecamp. If you still have some energy left, you will be taken to some of Longyearbyen’s many night spots.

Day 5

Your last morning on Longyearbyen will be one to remember. After a short ride to Nybyen, you will hike up to reach Larsbreen glacier. Descend into the glacier and enter the mesmerising ice cave. Equipped with a headlamp, you will walk along passages formed by the melted water under the glacier. After lunch, you will leave the arctic wilderness behind and head back to Oslo for one last night. Dinner will be at Theatercaféen, one of the world’s most famous Vienna-styled cafes. The Grand Hotel will once again be your host for the night as a comfy bed, luxurious surroundings.

Day 6

Enjoy breakfast before your transfer back to the airport.
